Childhood obesity is a rapidly increasing problem in the United States. The National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are predicting an epidemic of obesity-related adult diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, end stage renal disease and osteoarthritis as this generation's children grow into adults. It's easier to prevent obesity in childhood than to try to correct the problem as an adult.
