    Assessments
    Childhood Obesity
Childhood obesity is a rapidly increasing problem in the United States. It's easier to prevent obesity in childhood than to try to correct the problem as an adult.

    Nutrition
This personal assessment of your nutritional lifestyle can be very enlightening.

    Calculators
    Body Mass Index
Rather than relying only on the bathroom scale to tell you if you're overweight, you should also know your BMI, experts say. BMI takes into account not just your weight, but also your height to indicate body fat.

    Calories Burned
Your body burns calories for two reasons: first, just to keep the basics going (growing hair, building bone, digesting food); second to fuel physical activities, from tying a shoe to climbing a mountain.

    Carbs, Protein and Fat Intake
Knowing what you eat, and how much, is important to managing a diet, especially when it comes to losing weight or managing diabetes.

    Ideal Weight
For years, people looked up their weight on tables drawn from insurance company statistics. While those are still around, this is a newer, more accurate way to calculate what is truly a healthy weight range for you.

    Target Heart Rate
It is a percentage of what your maximum heart rate should be. The more fit you are, the higher the percentage can go.

    Waist-to-Hip Ratio
According to the American Heart Association, women with a waist-to-hip ratio of less than 0.88 and men with a ratio of less than 0.95 have a decreased risk for obesity-related health problems.

    Quizzes
Diet Quiz: Exploding Myths in Weight Loss
Weight management is a growing concern in this country, with over five out of every 10 Americans overweight or obese. At any given time, millions of people are trying to lose weight. Each year, billions of dollars are spent on weight-loss products and services, from diet books to shoe inserts.

    Obesity Quiz: Defining the Epidemic
There is an epidemic of obesity in this country, health experts say. But what is obesity? How is it measured?
